I wish you a very meaningful and fruitful 2007. Please join me in thanking God for His never ceasing guidance and provision for us individually and as a church. Many of us have experienced the joy of new births into our families. At the same time, the church family also rejoices over the spiritual birth of many among us. Some of us received God’s provision of new jobs while others may still be waiting. We also rejoice in witnessing the marriage of many couples. We said farewell to some of our loved ones who went to be with the Lord. Even as we faced these sad and dark moments in life, we experienced God’s presence, grace, comfort and His promise that we will not remain there for long. On behalf of the pastoral staff, we thank you for your trust in us that allow us to walk with you during such special moments in your life. We consider it a privilege to serve you during both the good times and difficult times in life’s journey this past year.

I am looking forward to 2007 even though we don't know what will come our way. There will be moments of joy, but also times of uncertainty and anxiety. One thing we are certain is that God’s gracious hand will be upon us individually and this community of the redeemed. It is with faith we anticipate how God will continue to unfold His master plan in our personal lives and in HCC.

Our theme for 2007 is “Here and Beyond.” After the completion of our study of the Book of 1 Corinthians in January, we will begin preaching through the Book of Acts. With God’s help, we want to understand His heart for the world. Through the study of Acts, we will also learn to expand our horizons beyond the four walls of this building. We will continue to reach out to our community including Pearland but we are also anticipating the development of other ministries in our community. It is our desire that God will use all of us to be channels of His Grace to those He will bring into our lives.

I have shared with different groups and individuals about how God has abundantly blessed the HCC family. He has already bestowed upon us all the heavenly blessings (Ephesians 1:3 ff). What does He ask of us? “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8)

It is my prayer that in the coming year, we will continue to grow together, be obedient to God and allow Him to mold us through people and circumstances into His likeness.
