Reflections
on Mother's Day
Every Mother's
Day our family flies to Detroit to visit my Grandma and to help out in
the family restaurant. AS soon as we come through the door of the restaurant,
the smells and noises welcome us home for another year. Entering the kitchen
and greeting people, it's as if time stood still for another year. My
relatives, the restaurant staff, super-sized woks, and even the molasses-laced
fried rice haven't changed at all. Yet every Mother's Day I always seem
to be at a different place in life. But no matter the changes and circumstances,
the restaurant is still the same .And so it is with our God. No matter
the ups and downs of life, the hellos and goodbyes that dot our lives,
Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow (Heb 13:8). No matter
where we are, close or far, we can always come home to God and are welcomed
with open arms of love.
