Change
our Attitude
Pastor Fred Tow
Someone once
said, “Life is 10% of what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.”
It is not a matter of WHETHER we will face difficulties and trials or
not, but WHEN we will face them. Responding properly to positive circumstances
is very easy, but the challenge in life is responding properly to negative
circumstances. Our attitude toward them will determine what kind of life
we will have. Our preconceived notions affect our thought patterns, which
affects our attitude. The bible says, “What a man thinks in his heart,
so is he” (Proverbs 23:7 NKJV). As a child of God, we need to train
ourselves to think from God's perspective. We are not to conform any longer
to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our
mind. Then we will be able to test and approve what God's will is (Rom.
12:2). To think like God and know His will require us to have an intimate
relationship with Him. Each one of us needs heart surgery, where God changes
our selfish heart to become humble heart. May we actively pursue God to
lead us and guide us; and may we humble ourselves to his leading. May
we follow the psalmist's command, “Delight yourself in the Lord and
He will give you the desires of your heart” (Ps. 37:4).
