It's
Heart that matters!

We often hear the questions: “How
could there be such a loving God with all the bad things that happen in
this world?” or “Where is God in all these tragedies?” Even some of you
may be asking the same questions right now, and I will join with you asking
those questions. But I have an even bigger question to ask. Where are
the Christians in caring for the problems of this world? We are the hands
and feet of God. The world will see God when they see Christians. The
world will see God when they see you going out!
Matt Chandler says, “our heads have grown bigger while
our hearts are SHRUNK.” Micah 6:6-8 paints the perfect picture of that.
The people know all about what to sacrifice and what to bring before God,
but God says he requires something different. To Act Justly, Love
Mercy, and Walk Humbly Before God. We know all there is to “be a
Christian” and we do it. We give what we need to. We come to church. We
know what we should or shouldn't do. Sometimes we know what others should
or shouldn't do, when we really don't. So we have these heads full of
knowledge, but what about our hearts? Are they filled with compassion
for the poor? Does your heart break for those millions who are hungry
at this very moment, or for those 4 children who have died from hunger
since you started to read this? Does your heart make you want to do something
for the widows and orphans? James calls a religion that is PURE when it
looks out for the widows and orphans in their afflictions.
So may your heart break for the things that break the heart
of God. May you see and love the world
the way our Father in Heaven loves them. May we live a life with big hearts:
Acting Justly, Loving Mercy and Walking Humbly before our God.
