When
We First Knew

Don't
you think it's funny how silly we can get from words of another person?
Think about it for a second. Some of us can read a text message or E-mail
over and over again if it is from a guy or girl we like. What about the
feeling we get inside our hearts when we find out that the person we like
feels the same way we do. It puts a smile on our faces doesn't it? Or
what about the first time you hear the words “I love you” from your
significant other?? Wasn't it a great feeling? It probably put a bigger
smile on your face.
Now
what if I told you that God loves you. Anything stirring up in your heart
right now? Is there a smile on your face? If you grew up in the church
you know the verse John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave
his only Son.” For most of us this verse doesn't move us any more. But
these aren't words on the screen of a phone or a computer screen. These
aren't words spoken by someone who is like you or me. But instead these
words come from the God of this universe, the creator, the one who had
pleasures forevermore and a fullness of joy, the one who has saved you.
I
hope we can become silly people when we hear the words of God saying,
“I love you.” I hope we will go back to reading John 3:16 over and
over again. I hope we will always remember that moment when we first knew
that God loved us.
