Gaining
Independence

In
the United
States , Independence Day , commonly known as the Fourth
of July , is a federal
holiday commemorating the independence of this great nation
from the Kingdom
of Great Britain . As we celebrate the 4 th of July,
may we remember that freedom is never free. There is a tremendous price
that is paid to receive this freedom. Many brave patriots sacrifice their
lives in order for us to have this wonderful gift. Millions of people
from all over the world, if given the opportunity, would love to live
in this free country. May we not take for granted the freedom that we
have in this magnificent country.
In
the world today, man is living in bondage of sin. As we choose to live
in dependence on ourselves instead of God, we are destined to eternal
condemnation. Although the wages of sin is death, God has provided us
the precious gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. He recognizes
that we are slaves to sin. Because of His endearing love for us, He offered
up Himself to die on the cross to pay the penalty of our sin. As we place
our personal faith in Christ, we are saved. Instead of living in bondage
of sin, God has set us free not only from the penalty of sin, but also
the power of sin. May we celebrate and thank God for the spiritual freedom
that He has given to us.
